Simulation of Plasmaspheric Plume Impact on Dayside Magnetic Reconnection

Abstract : • We perform Particle-In-Cell simulation of asymmetric magnetic reconnection including the impact of cold plasmaspheric plume • Inclusion of the plume reduces the reconnection rate, the reduction is explained by the additional mass in the system (mass-loading effect) • The temperature of the plume does not influence the reconnection rate
