The AUTO Group has continued in recent years applied research activities in automatic and Operations Research. These research activities tend to meet two main requirements:
- Provide a strong scientific basis for instruction given by the ENAC Department of Air Transport , in the field of Systems Edge (Auto) and in the field of Air Transport Operations (operational Research) allowing to associate in these activities, different degrees students engineers, masters and doctoral research so that they can better acquire experience and expertise.
- Contribute with original way to methodological development in these two application areas in order to contribute to the ongoing effort to improve the efficiency and safety of air travel: conduct of the flight, Air Traffic Management and operations management with different partners.
Research made by the AUTO Group focus on :
- Flight conduct (robust nonlinear control, adaptive blunt) with applications to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and automatic tracking of instructions separation (relative guidance, sequencing of aircraft on approach),
- flight safety (sensors/actuators failure detection , soft crash)
-
air operations (fleet management, crew), and more generally the problems of resource allocation in the air traffic management (airport capacity, ground facilities), which we apply methods from Operations Research.
These upstream research (detailed in the page Research/Automatic) are potentially generating of innovations, and may be of interest to the European SESAR program, and air operators..
